Bee Block Quilt Completed!!

I finally took the time to sew all my awesome bee blocks together from last year.  Every month after our STLMQG meeting, 8 of us go to lunch and swap bee blocks. Each person has an assigned month and every year we have a different theme. Last year when it was your month everyone made the block of your choice with the fabrics provided.  I picked lots of teals and yellows and gray Robert Kaufman Essex linen for the background fabrics. I've never made a quilt with linen just a few tote bags and I really enjoyed working with it. It washed up super soft and is so cozy to sit under! If you've never joined a bee block swap, do it, they're fun and it's a great way to make good friends!

I decided to free motion quilt a fun design on it and practiced my ruler work; I really love how it turned out!

When it came to backing, I found the PERFECT Tula Pink fabric from her Eden line.

In other news, I just received this Oliso Pro Smart Iron and CANNOT wait to try it! Thank you so much Oliso!!!! I will do an honest review on the blog and also a Periscope video so ya'll can watch it live! If ya'll don't follow us on Periscope check us out at @SunFlower_Quilt, we do weekly videos of fun quilty stuff (basically I'm a huge dork who talks a lot)!

Sorry I don't blog as often as I used to. Make sure you follow me on:

RJR Fabrics is having a Blog Hop for their Cotton Supreme Solids!  As you might know already, I love RJR solids. There are tons of colors and the fabrics are super soft.  They asked me to join the blog hop and I couldn't say no! Make sure you check out all of the Cotton Supreme Solids on their website and also check out the Cotton Supreme Solids Blog Hop Facebook page!

So, I chose to use the new Cotton + Steel fabrics to go along with my Cotton Supreme Solids.  I Just love the new C + S fabrics and they're even prettier in person!

My first quilt is called Galaxy and the pattern will be available soon!

I had a bunch of triangle scraps left over from the Galaxy quilt and thought they were just too pretty to throw away, so because I'm a crazy person, I sewed them all together as HST and made a scrappy modern quilt! The HST are 2" finished.

And finally, the last quilt I made for this blog hop is called Stoplight.  You can find the Stoplight pattern in our online shop or on Craftsy and offers a baby or lap size version!

Thanks to RJR for letting me participate in the Cotton Supreme Solids Blog Hop! Make sure ya'll check out all of the other blog hop stops and pick yourself up some RJR Solids at Pink Castle Fabrics.

Oh yeah, and RJR generously donated a FQ bundle of solids with the colors I used!
Please leave a comment below and I will pick a winner next Friday, August 29th!  Make sure I have an email address to get ahold of you if you win.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Texas QAL

I joined late in the game but as soon as I came across the Deep in the Heart of Texas QAL I HAD to make a Texas quilt!  Being born and raised in Texas and living in the great state for 19 years, I needed to make a Texas quilt (I mean come on, I've been hoarding special Texas fabrics for years!  When I saw  the QAL over at Pretty Little Quilts, I jumped in and made the quilt in a few days!  It went together fast and the directions were great.  I had to adjust mine just a little bit because I wanted to finish mine before the QAL was over and I decided to omit the special city blocks.
Texas will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart and I miss it dearly!  Texans are known for their pride and would be described as conceited about their state. In 7th grade, we even have an entire year of Texas history replacing other history.  Unless you've lived there, you might not fully understand the greatness of the state.  I love being from Texas and will always be a Texan no matter where I live.
Anywho, here is my awesome Texas quilt and if you want to make one too and see other examples make sure you hop on over to Pretty Little Quilts blog; and thanks for the awesome pattern!

I don't blog as often due to my crazy 2 1/2 year old who keeps me busy but I Instagram everyday, so follow me for more quilting updates!

Granny Square Quilt

I finished quilting this Granny Square quilt this week and I'm in LOVE with it! My mom pieced this quilt probably a year ago when the Granny Square Quilt Along was happening.  Google Granny Square quilt and you can find all sorts of different tutorials.  I wanted to share some photos of the quilt and all of the quilting I did.  I chose to FMQ very densely and create all sorts of texture.

I love that she did a pieced border on this quilt, it ties in the quilt beautifully!!

I quilted straight lines in between the granny square blocks to create a secondary pattern.

I quilted flower petals inside of the granny square blocks.

I quilted tear drop shapes to fill in everything in between.

I just love how this turned out and how bright and cheery it is! Hopefully it will bring some warmth throughout the country with ALL of this cold weather everyone is having!!!

Robyn's Quilt

Here are a bunch of photos of a quilt I quilted for Robyn.  She sent me this lovely top and told me to go for it.  I love this pattern and it left a lot of room for creative quilting.  I quilted feathers in the border and loops in the inner border. On the insides I did three different designs.  What do ya'll think? I LOVE how this turned out!

Christmas Quilts

I promised that I would blog about some quilts that I've recently done.
The two quilts I'm going to share today were quilts I made 100% for two different people for Christmas.  They both came to me with quilt ideas for their spouses for Christmas and I couldn't be more please with how they turned out!

The first one is for a couple at my church who also happens to be my sister-in-laws grandparents.  If I lost you, long story short, my husband's younger sister is adopted and her grandparents go to our church. Grandpa asked me to make a quilt for Grandma with all of the grandkids names and birthdays on it.  I have free reign over the entire thing.  Her favorite colors are red and purple so I went with it.  I embroidered all of the names inside of the stars and I just love how bright and cheery it is! This was the first actual quilt that I quilted on my new longarm. I stuck with a simple all over pattern since the quilt had a lot going on itself.

The second quilt is a Cardinals baseball quilt I made 100% for my friend Marilyn's husband.  Marilyn's husband is the Dean of Education at the college I graduated from and Marilyn was a counselor whom I because close with!  Their daughter also teaches with my husband, so I love this family!  She told me that her husband loves the Cardinals and that they were redoing their guest room in a Cardinals theme! PERFECT!  I did an all over swirl with a little extra at the top to resemble a cardinal bird's head. Here is what I came up with:

Customer Quilting

WOW, it's been too long since I've blogged!!! I am going to try and do better, but I am constantly posting on Instagram and Facebook, so find me on there!
INSTAGRAM: jamiemueller0522

My newest news is that in December I bought a longarm!!! I am so excited to begin this journey! I've been quilting on my domestic machine for years and feel as though I've been able to master FMQ on it. It was getting harder to quilt big quilts and didn't allow me to quilt them effectively and timely.  I spoke with my husband and he agreed that the longarm was the way to go! WOO HOO (that was the hardest part).  I was talking with my good friend Angela, and she joked that I should buy her old machine since she got a fancy new one.  One month later I'm driving across the state in a UHaul to pick up her machine!

Angela and I, her first machine is now my first machine!

Here she is all set up in my sewing room! In case ya'll are wondering, it's a Gammill Premier.

I have been quilting like CRAZY since I set her up!  Between the old shop and my mother and I, we had a lot of quilt tops laying around for me to practice on!

I thought I'd show you some photos of a few quilts I've quilted for customers.  The first two quilts are quilts that I made 100% for customer gifts for Christmas, I will post more photos of these later in a new post, but I'll show you the quilting for now.

Next, this is a quilt I quilted for RJR Fabrics, my mother designed and pieced it and then I quilted it. I'll also do a new post for this quilt with more photos later this week!

Finally, for now, I just finished quilting this quilt for Robyn. Again, I'll post later this week about Robyn's gorgeous quilt with more photos.

Like I said before, make sure you follow me on Instagram because I post daily on there and I'm always sharing what I'm working on!
