Cathedral Windows Turtle Stuffed Animal

Cathedral Windows Turtle Stuffed Animal or Large Pincushion

Supplies:
1 FQ of solid fabric (used for 1- 18"solid square and head, tail, & feet pieces)
1- 9" inner peak-a-boo square
2-7" window squares
1-18" backing square
stuffing
Coordinating thread
Hand sewing needle

Directions:
Follow the Cathedral Windows Basics Tutorial HERE  including the sewing embellishment (peak-a-boo) using the size requirements listed below:
*Size Requirements for Cathedral Windows Turtle:
18"solid square
7 " window square
9" inner square
You will only need one folded square.
Assembling the Turtle:
1.  Cut 10 pieces for feet and tail and 2 pieces for head.

2. Take two pieces and with right sides together sew all the way around leaving the bottom open for stuffing.  Stuff. Repeat until you have one head, four feet and one tail.

3. Pin head, feet and tail in place.
 4. With backing square and CW square (with head, feet and tail pinned in place) right sides together (RST) sew all the way around the squares leaving about a 2" opening for turning.
5. Trim off corners being careful not to cut stitching.

6. Turn turtle right side out and stuff as desired. Hand sew the opening closed. Need help sewing your turtle closed? Check out my Mom's Ladder Stitch Video Tutorial over on her blog! It's a great, detailed tutorial and you won't see your stitches afterwards!

Now your Turtle is finished!  Enjoy

Pincushions

Yesterday and today I've been cleaning and reorganizing my garage and sewing room.  I will post photos soon (sewing space isn't quite done to take photos yet)!  I needed a little crafty break so I made some pincushions!  Where I live, there are a ton of antique stores so I bought the bases at an antique store and made these today!  I think they turned out so cute!  What do you think??

Felt Food Fun

So my little buddy (aka my nephew Xavier) LOVES to "cook" right now!  At his Grandma's house they have a really cool play kitchen and lots of play food.  So his mommy got the idea to make some felt food.  We had such a good time making food for him (at least after both boys went down for a nap).  Here are some photos from our day!

Personalized lunch bags one for Xavier, one for Jordan
Cookies made by Rachel.....didn't she do awesome?  I think these turned out so cute! And they made us want sugar cookies the whole time!

Xavier "cooking"

grilled chicken breast sandwich...we didn't have the right color felt for turkey or ham so we made a healthier choice of grilled chicken breast!
Jordan loves to cook too!!  This carrot is the perfect fit for his little hand!
(by the way I might be totally biased...BUT I think I have the CUTEST nephews EVER!!)

so many options...

peanut butter and jelly!

look at those pickles....that's for you Uncle Jon since you LOVE pickles we
made sure he had some to play with!!

Grilled chicken breast, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles!

Looks like a yummy lunch!

Delicious!

Tomato, Carrot and Strawberries

Love this face!! Thanks X for being a great felt food model!

Hope you enjoy all the food boys....more will be coming!  Love ya'll both tons!!
