Looking for quilts

Hi ya'll!
I hope everyone has had a great week so far, it's been pretty busy at our house this week which didn't allow for much sewing.
Anywho, I wanted to take a minute and share with ya'll a very important project that my mom and I have been involved in for many years.  It's the Ovarian Quilt Cancer Project and it auctions off quilts to raise money for all women's cancers. We are on the board with this awesome project and it's something we care very deeply for.  The quilt auctions are held in November every other year.

The quilt project and 2013 online quilt auction will benefit the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Through innovative research, this program aims to develop effective screening methods and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer. The online auction also raises awareness for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genetic predisposition which increases the risk for developing both ovarian and breast cancer.

This coming November is the next one and we are looking for lovely quilts to be donated.  This is where ya'll come in.  If you have any quilts laying around or any works-in-progress that would want to finish up and donate we would LOVE to have them! Maybe you want to learn a new quilting technique that you saw online, well here is a perfect excuse to try it! Quilts can be any size or shape and any color under the sun! Quilts can be in any category as well: modern, traditional, art, applique. The deadline for receiving quilts in June 1, 2013 and we would greatly appreciate ANY that you're willing to donate! Plus, who couldn't use a tax write off too?!

If you would like to donate a quilt (or quilts) please print off a Quilt Donation Form that I've attached as a google document and fill it out and send with your quilt by June 1st!
Please pass the word along to your friends and quilt guilds and help spread the word about women's cancer research!  Thanks for your consideration and I know ya'll will come up with some beautiful quilts!
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me: jamie@sunflower-quilts.com

Here is one that I donated in 2011 if you're needing a little inspiration!

I had fun with FMQ and trying new quilting techniques!

More quilts and my cutie!

I wanted to share two more quilts that I've been working on.  The first on was a quilt I made for a craft fair back in November.  It was a simple quilt so I decided to do a lot of fun quilting on it! I'm pretty sure it took me longer to quilt it than piece it!

The second quilt was very special for me to make.  My husband's best friend's Aunt (still with me?) was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  I'm on the board with MD Anderson quilt auction and we raise money/auction quilts for women's cancer research.  Until now, it never touched me so close to home!  She's started her treatments and during those two hour treatments at the hospital she gets cold.  What better way to stay warm than a new quilt!  I whipped this one up for her and gave it to her last weekend! We love you P, and continually pray for you everyday; your strength is inspiring!

On a brighter note, my not so little boy turned one last month!!! I can't believe how much he's changed since those first photos of him!  Top photo he was 5 days old and bottom photo he was one year old!

Happy Monday, and have a great week!

brother quilts!

Back in August 2011,  a good friend of mine asked me to make a quilt for her cousin who was having a little boy.  She told me the colors where lime green and bright blues with an animal theme.  This is what I came up with for Ezekiel William:

Now skip to January 2013 and she asked me to make a new quilt with the same colors and theme for that little boy's new baby brother!  How fun! Here is what I came up with for Elijah Wayne:

What do ya'll think, do they look like quilts for brothers?  I love how they turned out and had tons of fun making them!!

Oh yes, and if the mother of these boys reads this, I wouldn't mind a cute photo emailed to me of the cute boys and their quilts ;) wink wink!

Hope ya'll have a great Friday!

Updates!

Hey ya'll!
Has it really been since Nov 2nd since I've blogged?!?!! whoops....sorry! Check me out on Facebook or Instagram (jamiemueller0522), I'm always updating there!  It's so much faster to just upload a picture to Faceook or Instgram than to blog it with a one year old running around! :)
Anywho, I just thought I'd pop in and share a few projects I've been working on lately!

First up, I made this Double Irish Chain quilt for my husband's best friends parents for Christmas! They are like family to us and just amazing people.  They are really big on all things Irish so when I decided to make them a quilt, this was my go to choice!

Next up, I made this quilt for my In-Laws for Christmas. It's a variation of my Auntie's Diamonds quilt which you can find the free tutorial HERE.

Here is the back of Auntie's Diamonds quilt.

This was a mini quilt for a customer made from one of his mother's bowling t-shirts and some of her patches and pins!  I love how this turned out and how perfect is the Pezzy fabric for the border?!?!

This Spring Quilt was made for our church's craft fair I did back in November and I'm so pleased with how the quilting turned out.  I quilted a large flower in the center and then rays coming out from the flower!

I have a few more projects I would like to share with ya'll but I'll post those some time this week! I hope ya'll have a great rest of the weekend and I will try to get back into the swing of blogging again!

Book & Quilts!

Hey ya'll!
Mom and I have been SUPER busy lately preparing for Market this weekend among other things!  First thing is that we just finished our first book!!!  We are working with Annie's Publishing (formerly DRG) on a book titled Sewing Room Accessories-At Home and On the Go!Moda Fabrics,
Dear Stella Fabrics and Pellon graciously provided lots of fabrics and interfacing for the projects, we want to thank these fabulous companies for their generosity and support! We had so much fun coming up and working on these projects and we can't wait for ya'll to see them!  It's been really hard keeping it a secret and it felt so good sending the projects off to the publisher! The book is scheduled to be released in May 2013, we will keep you posted about the progress. Here's a sneak peek!

We have 3 quilts in 3 different booths this year at Quilt Market in Houston!! We are so excited and can't wait to see them in the booths!  If you're coming to Market this weekend make sure you stop by these awesome booths and check out our quilts!  If you do, make sure you take a photo and put it in my Flickr Group please!!

First up, RJR contacted us with their upcoming fabric line called Doodle Zoo coming out in the Spring 2013 and it's being premiered at Market this weekend.  We came up with this cute quilt called Doodle Zoo Train! Patterns and kits will be available in the Spring as well!

The amazing quilting is done by Angela Walters!!

Second up, Monaluna sent us their new fabric line called Havana and asked us to come up with a quilt using this adorable line!  We came up with this quilt called Havana Blooms and it will be a free PDF pattern on their blog soon!  I will keep ya'll posted when it's available!

Again, special thanks to Angela Walters for the AMAZING quilting!! You're the best!

Last but not least, we came up with Tile Isle using Dear Stella's Kallianthi fabric line. Pattern will be available on our website in the next couple of weeks!! I will let ya'll know when it's available!

I hope you like all of our quilts and please share your photos if you see them at Market!! Thank you to all of the fabulous fabric companies for letting up play with your fabrics...they are all beautiful and ya'll were great companies to work with!!!

Swaddle Blanket Tutorial

Hey ya'll!

It's been SUPER BUSY over at my house with the hubby back in school teaching again, and he coaches football so we hardly see him!
But anyways, I just wanted to drop in and share my Swaddle Blanket tutorial with you over on Riley Blake's blog today!  It's a super easy sewing project and I know first hand that they make great baby gifts!! There is always someone who seems to be having a baby, so here is a great handmade gift you could make for them! Enjoy and make sure to drop by Riley Blake's blog for the tutorial and leave a comment! Also, you have got to get your hands on some Riley Blake Flannel, it is super soft and Jared thinks it pretty cozy!! Can you believe he is 8 months already??
